How to Get the Most Value Out of Your Coding Bootcamp

What are some tips for making the most of a coding bootcamp? originally appeared on Quora – the knowledge sharing network where compelling questions are answered by people with unique insights . Answer by David Yang , Co-Founder and Lead Instructor at Fullstack Academy, on Quora : Start Strong. This depends on what your goal is for going to a coding bootcamp, but I’ll assume for now that it’s to get a job as a software engineer. One of the biggest things I’ve seen in outcomes at Fullstack is that attending the program acts as a multiplier of your skills/knowledge. In many ways, the stronger your programming foundation is when you start, the more you’ll get out of the course

Weekend Roundup: What the Burkini Ban Reveals

In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Nice and elsewhere in the country, several towns along the sunny beaches in the south of France where a scantily clad Brigitte Bardot once frolicked have banned the burkini. This ban on covering up reveals not only a cleavage between conservative Islamic norms and the liberal West, but between the concepts of secularism within the West itself as well. Notably, sympathy with the ban has united the otherwise querulous left and right in France. The Socialist Prime Minister Manuel Valls says he sees behind fashion concepts like the burkini, “the idea that by their nature women are immodest, impure, that they should therefore be completely covered.

9 Smart Design Ideas I’d Love To Have At Home

I have been living in the Swiss city of Basel for some time now. Just a few months ago, I moved from a student dorm to an unfurnished flat with two friends, and went through the complete ordeal of furniture hunting, planning, transporting it and setting it all up.I think by the end of it all, we probably became experts in assembling IKEA furniture, fixing light fittings, drilling holes in the walls and fixing shelves. Thanks to IKEA and all the people selling their old (and not-so-old) furniture, we found quite a bit of ‘smart’ or space saving furniture. But, recently, when I visited Stockholm(also in the land of IKEA!)and stayed at HTL – a ‘smart hotel’, I was amazed at some of the really cool features they had implemented in all rooms! Now, I had read about the predicted rise of smart hotels but staying in one was a first for me. I realized how you could utilize the little space you have and come up with so many ideas

Weekend Roundup: The Olympic Prism

The modern Olympics have become a global platform through which countries project their image to the rest of the world. They have become a prism that refracts geopolitical and geocultural realities and aspirations. The most expensive Olympics ever, the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, showcased Russia’s revival as a strong state under the guidance of President Vladimir Putin after the humiliation of losing the Cold War. As Tokyo’s new governor Yuriko Koike wrote last week in The WorldPost , she intends to use the 2020 games there to rebrand Japan as the leading edge of Asian modernization. The 2016 Summer Olympics that kicked off last weekend in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil reflect the very rich culture of a weak state with a global outlook. The opening ceremonies highlighted the planetary theme of climate change mixed in with Brazil’s trademark samba and a catwalk by its iconic model, Gisele Bundchen.
