You Can Hire A Pokémon Go Trainer For $20 An Hour Because The World Is Good

Are you playing Pokémon Go? Of course you are! Do you want to be an expert at it, but don’t know how? Well, you’re in luck!  A 24-year-old freelance journalist who goes by the name Ivy St. Ive is here to help. In a world where you can literally pay people to stand in line for you, it’s probably not that shocking that you can also pay someone to “catch them all.” In a post on Craigslist , St. Ive says she’s a “lifelong Pokémon enthusiast” and looking to help Pokemon novices in New York City. She touts herself as a “professional Pokémon Go trainer.” The NYU graduate says that for a mere $20 an hour, she will do the following: My services are simple: I will walk around in 1-4 hour shifts signed in to your account capturing every single Pokémon I come into contact with, activating every Poke Stop I pass and walking nonstop to help hatch your eggs.

Manhattanhenge Returns To The Big Apple For The Last Time In 2016

Happy  Manhattanhenge ! The spectacular sunset that aligns perfectly with Manhattan’s street grid returns to New York City  on Monday and Tuesday at 8:20 p.m. EST. These are the last times to see the semiannual phenomenon in 2016. Manhattanhenge creates “a radiant glow of light across Manhattan’s brick and steel canyons , simultaneously illuminating both the north and south sides of every cross street of the borough’s grid.”  At least that’s how astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has described the phenomenon. And it was Tyson, a native Manhattanite, who first popularized the term “Manhattanhenge.” Manhattanhenge ― the name is a nod to the prehistoric monument Stonehenge, which was built to align with the rising sun during the summer solstice ― occurs because of the roughly east-west alignment of the borough’s street grid.

Watch Matt McGorry Call Out An Extremely Sexist Radio Show

Matt McGorry is not here to let sexist bullshit slide.  Late Friday night, the “How To Get Away With Murder” actor was in a cab when the driver turned on a Los Angeles radio show called  The Woody Show  on 98.7 FM. To his horror, McGorry found himself listening in on The Woody Show’s insanely sexist segment called “Fat Chick/Skinny Chick,” in which the host tries to guess if the woman is fat or skinny depending on her answers to certain questions. Later that night, McGorry tweeted his thoughts on the sexist segment. Scroll below to see his initial reaction tweets.  Heard the horrendously sexist @TheWoodyShow in a cab. ‘Old People’ Are Coming To Snapchat. Head For The Hills!

Older users have discovered Snapchat and the reports couldn’t be grimmer. “Snapchat Is About To Be Overrun With Olds,” warns Gizmodo . “Snapchat’s Teen Fans Wince as App Catches On With Their Folks,”  chimes in the Wall Street Journal . “Sorry teens, olds are slowly taking over Snapchat,” apologizes TheNextWeb .  The Christian Science Monitor at least had the decency to put “old” in quotes when it wrote: “Is Snapchat becoming overrun with ‘old’ people?” — a lthough grammatically speaking, quote marks are the sole purview of repeating someone’s speech verbati m and shouldn’t ever be used for emphasis or to mean “hey, this isn’t really us calling you ‘old’.”  And of course there was this one from MediaPost : “OMG Snapchat Is Full Of Lame Old People Now Too,” although in this case, there may have been a bit of facetiousness involved. At least we hope so. The story, of course, is that older people increasingly are using social media sites — in this case the messaging app Snapchat

In A Twist, Kim Kardashian Gets People To Click Away From Instagram

Leave it to Kim Kardashian,  app mogul  and social media virtuoso , to ignite a traffic explosion from the last place anyone expected. A recent cover story about Kardashian in GQ generated a record number of referrals from Instagram, the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Jim Nelson, told Digiday on Tuesday . In layman’s terms: A whole lot of people found Caity Weaver’s article through the image-sharing service, and that’s kind of remarkable. “We saw 360,000 referrals coming through Instagram, a platform almost unanimously known for not generating referral traffic,” Nelson told Digiday. “For the first time, Instagram eclipsed Facebook as our top referrer for this story.” Instagram doesn’t let users click on links in comments posted under pictures, which makes it hard for businesses to leverage the platform for traffic

ChristianMingle Will Make Big, Pro-Gay Change After Lawsuit

The ” largest and fastest growing online community ” for Christian singles will now allow gay and lesbian users to search for same-sex matches following a legal battle.  Previously, ChristianMingle required new users to identify themselves as “men seeking women” or “women seeking men,” The Wall Street Journal reported June 30. Same-sex couples couldn’t be matched through the site because there was no option for users to register themselves as gay or lesbian.  In 2013, two gay men filed class actions claims against ChristianMingle’s parent company, Spark Networks. The men argued that Spark was breaking California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act , which requires businesses to provide “full and equal accommodations” to all patrons regardless of sexual orientation, in not permitting gay and lesbian people to use its online dating services.  Per a settlement , Spark agreed to allow users to just identify as a “man” or a “woman” on its homepages, and will also pay $468,000 in legal fees to the gay men who filed the suit, according to The Wall Street Journal. The company is also required to introduce new features that will make it easier for gay and lesbian users to search for others on the site.  Vineet Dubey, an attorney for one of the plaintiffs, said in a statement that he was pleased with the outcome.  “I am gratified that we were able to work with Spark to help ensure that people can fully participate in all the diverse market places that make our country so special, regardless of their sexual orientation,” Dubey said, according to Christian News .  The settlement’s terms will also apply to three of Spark’s other sites, CatholicMingle , AdventistSinglesConnection and BlackSingles , but not to its popular Jewish-oriented site, JDate , which was not a part of the lawsuit.  Representatives for Spark said they were “pleased to resolve the litigation,” according to Christian News. Meanwhile, ChristianMingle appeared to hint at the lawsuit in a Facebook post on June 30.   Readers also used the post as an opportunity to sound off on the ruling
