Father Kills Toddler On Facebook Live

For the second time in roughly a week, a brutal killing has been uploaded to Facebook. According to police, a 20-year-old man on Monday used Facebook Live to stream the hanging of his 11-month-old daughter. The video, which was filmed at an abandoned hotel in Phuket, Thailand, showed the man tie a noose around the child’s neck before dropping her over the side of the building. The child’s relatives, including his mother, reportedly saw the video and contacted police. “The mother of the child was crying and was very sad,” Thai police Col

Why Sheryl Sandberg Decided To Speak Openly About Losing Her Husband

Nearly two years ago, Sheryl Sandberg poured 1,743 words of raw emotion into a   Facebook post that essentially made everyone on the internet cry. Her husband, Dave Goldberg, had died suddenly at the age of 47, not even 30 days earlier. The calendar marked the end of the traditional Jewish mourning period for spouses, but she hardly felt done with grief. Sandberg wasn’t even sure she would hit publish, the Facebook executive told HuffPost last week. She wrote feverishly, put it aside and went to bed. The post was her desperate attempt to connect with friends and coworkers from whom she felt increasingly isolated in her mourning.

Cleveland Killing Prompts Facebook To Review Handling Of Violent Posts

Facebook  said Monday it will review its process for reporting inappropriate content after an accused killer posted a video of his apparently unprovoked  shooting of a 74-year-old man  in Cleveland. Three posts to the suspect’s Facebook page ― a video announcing his intent to commit a murder, a graphic video of the killing, and a live video of his confession ― stayed online for about two hours, the social network said.  “We disabled the suspect’s account within 23 minutes of receiving the first report about the murder video, and two hours after receiving a report of any kind,” the company said. “But we know we need to do better.” Facebook said it was reviewing its “reporting flows to be sure people can report videos and other material that violates standards as easily and quickly as possible.” The company noted it is “constantly exploring” ways to harness advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to stop the spread of videos that violate its standards. The man police have accused in the Cleveland killing, Steve Stephens , 37, remains at large. He is wanted for aggravated murder in the killing of Robert Godwin Sr., who was walking home from a family Easter gathering.  Authorities widened the search into a  nationwide manhunt on Monday.  “We will leave no stone unturned,”  Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said at a press conference.  In 2015, a man posted videos to social media  of himself shooting and killing reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, while they were filming a live broadcast for Roanoke, Virginia, news station WDBJ.  — This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms

Stop Asking Brands To Give You Free Stuff For Retweets

Back in my day, we used to have to call a 1-800 number, wait 20 minutes on hold for an uninterested operator, and then demand to speak with a manager if we had any hope of getting free stuff in the mail. These days, there’s a jovial marketing team of millennials behind your favorite brand on Twitter, just waiting for an opportunity to slide into your DMs and give you freebies. But there’s a new Twitter trend that’s even more annoying than those folks who make it their business to complain until they get a free meal or suite or Uber ride. Now people are sending direct messages to brands asking how many retweets they’d need to get a super expensive product for free, and brands are responding with ridiculous, unattainable numbers ― often demanding retweets in the millions; way more retweets than any one post has ever received. Idgaf about nothin y'all better help me get this s550 naw but I'm serious RT! pic.twitter.com/KlhradZeKZ — blaccie (@BlaccieAintShit) April 12, 2017 Some of these campaigns are getting hundreds of thousands, if not millions of retweets, giving free advertising to brands while giving next to nothing ― except maybe 15 seconds on The Internet’s Grand Stage ― to the consumers.

An iPhone Turned Up In This Guy’s Subaru Dashboard, Prompting The Most Entertaining Internet Mystery Of All Time

This is it. The most entertaining Facebook thread of all time. Oh, you disagree? Then please point me to a better (and true ) story than this one, prompted by a mechanic finding an old iPhone ― locked and stuck in airplane mode ― in a Subaru’s dashboard airbag compartment (yep, you read that correctly). Then the car owner goes on a tireless search to figure out not only who it belongs to, but how it got there.
