Got something to say to NBA star Jimmy Butler ?  Then phone him. The Minnesota Timberwolves’ newest recruit decided to give out his cell number at his introductory press conference on Thursday. “My phone’s in my back pocket right now,” said the former Chicago Bulls player, while fielding questions about his possible impact on his new teammates. “If whoever has anything to say to me feel free, (773) 899 6071,” the   forward/guard told the TV cameras. “So, if you want an interview there you have it, please do.” A post shared by @nbatv on Jun 29, 2017 at 9:36am PDT Social media users initially speculated that he’d given out a fake number. But as Bleacher Report staff writer Joon Lee soon discovered, the digits that 27-year-old Butler doled out did in fact appear to be the real deal: this is the voicemail you get when you call the number jimmy butler gave out at his press conference pic.twitter.com/2pXIBQbRfS — Joon Lee (@iamjoonlee) June 29, 2017 Butler later posted this clip to Instagram of himself talking on FaceTime with a fan: A post shared by Jimmy Butler (@jimmybutler) on Jun 29, 2017 at 1:13pm PDT As HuffPost found out, the number now directs to a Verizon message saying it has been “ changed, disconnected or is no longer in service.” But that hasn’t stopped dozens of Butler’s fan tweeting him screen shots of what they’ve been trying to message him: @JimmyButler let me know pic.twitter.com/oyKHoDewzX — Jerry Sullivan (@jerrychristmas_) June 29, 2017 Someone texted this to @JimmyButler Im dead

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Believes The Thinking Emoji Is ‘Non Masculine’ For Some Reason

Here’s a Twitter interaction that will make you go  .  Many of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson ’s fans were discussing the action-packed trailer for his “Jumanji” reboot , subtitled “Welcome to the Jungle,” which premiered Thursday ahead of the film’s release later this year. One fan, Olly Gibbs, pointed out the similarities between this project and one of Johnson’s previous films, 2003′s “The Rundown,” originally titled “Welcome to the Jungle.” Now why does the new Jumanji film featuring @TheRock sound and look familiar?… pic.twitter.com/INzwYXx3ES — Olly Gibbs (@ollyog) June 28, 2017 It was an observation that clearly warranted the use of  , or the thinking emoji. Ever since this little face with an inquisitive look was added to our phones (and to our hearts) with the iOS 9 update in 2015, it’s become a staple of online discourse . Along with expressing confusion, it’s often used for “throwing shade,” per the fairly comprehensive Emojipedia . The Rock, an active Twitter user, responded to Gibbs’ comment — but took issue with something we, uh, hadn’t realized  was  an issue.

The European Union Just Showed Democrats How To Take On Monopolies

WASHINGTON ― European antitrust officials slapped Google with a record $2.7 billion fine on Tuesday for manipulating search results to favor its own services. The ruling, which came after a seven-year investigation, exposes what critics described as the failure of U.S. regulators to rein in monopolies at home, forcing their victims to seek recourse in the European Union. “The U.S. does not do antitrust regulation,” Matt Stoller, an antitrust expert at the nonpartisan New America Foundation’s Open Markets program, told HuffPost.

Facebook’s New Mission: A Global Community

When company CEOs make big statements about change in mission my skeptical journalistic brain kicks in. Is this a PR move, or a change to address advertiser pressure, or something more deeply held and profound? For Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the changes he and the Facebook team are implementing could be missed in the massive noise of Internet pronouncements. But that would be a mistake. Fakebook is already a powerful global force.

The Coolest Job You Probably Didn’t Even Know Existed

We spend a lot of time each day looking at, tweeting, and texting emoji, but few of us get paid to do so. Keith Broni, on the other hand, makes his living doing just that. Last December, London-based translation company Today Translations put out a call for an “emoji translator.” The job listing made news, partly because of its novelty — it’s believed to be the first role of its kind — and partly because it just sounds like so much fun. Who doesn’t want to spend their day looking at emoji? Today Translations received over 500 applications, and the interview process took five months, but Broni emerged as the winning candidate. You can’t major in emoji translation (at least, not yet), but Broni’s educational background does complement the role

A Fan Painted Mark Zuckerberg’s Face On Her Nails, And Here’s What Happened Next

Mark Zuckerberg  is a famous dude and, as fans do with anyone who is famous, they like to show their appreciation in … inventive ways. One particular fan of the Zuck decided to really nail down her love for the Facebook founder. On Thursday, Zuckerberg shared a manicured hand on his Instagram that features the Facebook logo, the “heart” and “like” reactions, and, naturally, Zuck’s likeness. Whether he was more enamored or surprised by the gesture isn’t known, but he definitely liked it enough to share : A post shared by Mark Zuckerberg (@zuck) on Jun 22, 2017 at 4:58pm PDT The image is accompanied by a caption that indicates this is the first time Zuck’s seen something like this and the hashtag #fcs2017.

Google Search Is Doing Irreparable Harm To Muslims

Google asks its employees to “Do the right thing.” At least, that’s what its revised 2015 motto states in an upgrade from the original company maxim, “ Don’t be evil . ” But when a user searches Google for information on Islam, the results often link to propaganda, anti-Muslim hate and outright lies. The algorithm for the world’s largest search engine is definitely not doing the right thing ― especially when it comes to the first page of results, where most users stop their searches. Basic searches for words like “Muslim” and “Islam” return reasonable results with links to reputable sites. But more specific terms, like “sharia,” “jihad” or “taqiyya” ― often co-opted by white supremacists ― return links to Islamophobic sites filled with misinformation. The same thing happens with the autofill function
