More Than 50 Tech Companies Take On Trump’s New Travel Ban

Nearly five dozen technology companies have filed an amicus brief against President Donald Trump ’s revised executive order banning travel from six majority-Muslim countries, which is set to go into effect on Thursday. The brief, which was filed Wednesday, supports Hawaii’s lawsuit seeking to block the federal government from implementing the order. In total, 58 companies, including Airbnb, Dropbox, Lyft, Square and Wikimedia, signed on. Many of the same companies joined a similar brief in February in opposition to the first version of Trump’s ban. “The technological and scientific breakthroughs that fuel the economic engine of the country — search, cloud computing, social media, artificial intelligence, faster and faster microprocessors, the Internet of Everything, reusable spacecraft — were all made possible by the ingenuity, imagination and invention of newcomers to America, including Muslims from across the world,” the brief states. “Never in modern American history has that infusion of talent and passion and creativity been stanched, as it is vital to the lifeblood of our economy

Fox News Anchor Shepard Smith Has Simply Had It With Kellyanne Conway

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith seems to have reached his limit of White House adviser Kellyanne Conway .  Smith said Monday, “We really don’t quote Conway much anymore because, well, history,” as he reported on her explanation of “ microwaves that turn into cameras .” Conway made the widely mocked comments when asked about President Donald Trump ’s accusation that former President Barack Obama had “ wiretapped ” Trump Tower before the election.  She called microwave/cameras “a fact of modern life.” Smith was having none of it.  “Microwaves do not not turn into cameras. Fox News can now confirm microwaves heat food,” he said. “Cameras take pictures.” Conway later walked back those comments, claiming she was speaking “ about surveillance articles in news & techniques generally , not about campaign.” 2/2: response to Bergen Record was about surveillance articles in news & techniques generally, not about campaign. Gunslinging Woman Chases Drone After It Starts Filming Her Home

Dramatic video reportedly taken by a drone last week in Washington state appears to show a woman trying to shoot the device out of the sky after it flew way too close to her home for her liking. The 35-second YouTube video that has since gone viral shows the woman first throwing items at the flying pest before going inside and returning with what looks like a firearm. Though the incident may seem staged, police in Bellevue, where the video’s description lists it as being filmed, told The Huffington Post that on Wednesday they received a call about a drone flying “above and around” a home that matches this one’s description. Public Information Officer Seth Tyler said that though the drone clearly set its camera on the woman’s home, an investigation didn’t find any criminal offenses committed. “The laws apply to unsafe operations,” Tyler told HuffPost Tuesday. “In this case, it appears that they were flying in a public area.” Regarding any voyeurism laws being broken, he suggested that the homeowner did not have a reasonable expectation of privacy because her window curtains were open

Guy Seeks Travel Buddy For His Shirtless Friend, Women Everywhere Volunteer

When Robert Keane learned  he could no longer go  on a long-awaited trip with his best friend Paddy James, he figured the least he could do was find a substitute to travel with James in his place.  The 27-year-old from Sydney, Australia posted James’ photo in a backpackers’ Facebook group , asking members if they’d be willing to accompany his friend on their pre-planned journey up Australia’s coast.  The thing is, though, that James is arguably a bit more attractive than your average traveler. His photos were shirtless. And the responses flooded in. James promptly started receiving messages and comments from travelers around the globe after the post went live, he told The Huffington Post. Commenters are offering to travel with him, host them in their hometowns and even take him on dates. He’s received about 150 messages so far.
