This Stunning Video Aims To Raise LGBTQ Awareness Through Dance

Two men get into the Pride Month groove on the Los Angeles streets in this colorful music video that’s also a retro-inspired meet cute.  Released by the DanceOn Network , the video stars dancers Derek Tabada and Will Johnston , who sport jewel-toned Paul Smith suits as they perform a playful, acrobatic routine to the tune of singer-songwriter  Dylan Hyde ’s “Clearly.” Eagle-eyed viewers may recognize Johnston, who also choreographed the number, from “ The LGBTQAlphabet ,” a similarly queer-inclusive video produced by Equinox in collaboration with the LGBT Community Center  and released earlier this month.  At one point, the dancers strut their stuff in front of Paul Smith’s West Hollywood storefront , which received a rainbow makeover earlier this month as part of an Instagram Pride Month initiative .  DanceOn CEO Amanda Taylor told HuffPost her company hoped to “act as an ally and an advocate” for the LGBTQ community by releasing the video, which aims to “channel artistic expression for positive change.” Last year, the group produced a contemporary dance homage to Orlando’s  Pulse nightclub tragedy  that has since received over 2 million views on YouTube .  The Paul Smith storefront, of course, is typically painted pink , and is known as one of the most photographed locations  of its kind in Southern California. Unveiled June 7, the new paint job is one of five “rainbow walls” created by Instagram to “strengthen relationships through shared experiences,” particularly among members of the LGBTQ community. Visitors are asked to share images of themselves in front of the five walls, which will also appear in London, Madrid, Cleveland and Nashville, Tennessee, with the hashtag #KindComments so that others can use Instagram to find a “community of support.” “For Pride, we hope the rainbow walls become physical structures that inspire kind comments and support,” Instagram’s Chief Operating Officer Marne Levine  told HuffPost, “but equally create an opportunity for people to come together on Instagram to support the LGBTQ community.” Take a look at some photographs from the June 7 rainbow wall debut below.  Find ways to celebrate Pride by subscribing to the Queer Voices newsletter .      — This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms. Travis Kalanick Takes Leaves Of Absence From Post As Uber CEO

Travis Kalanick  will take a leave of absence from his post as CEO of  Uber , he said on Tuesday. The move comes after months of scrutiny into Uber’s workplace culture and criticism of Kalanick’s leadership, and also his mother’s death late last month. In an email provided to HuffPost, Kalanick wrote that he was taking the time off to grieve for his mother and did not indicate when he’d return.  “For Uber 2.0 to succeed there is nothing more important than dedicating my time to building out the leadership team,” he wrote. “But if we are going to work on Uber 2.0, I also need to work on Travis 2.0 to become the leader that this company needs and that you deserve.” Read Kalanick’s full email below. A report about the company’s practices , also made public on Tuesday, suggests that Uber “review and reallocate the responsibilities” Kalanick had.

So THAT’S What The Numbers On Airport Runways Mean

Another great mystery  of air travel  is solved.  There’s a fascinating explanation for those giant numbers and letters  you see on the ends of  airport  runways: They provide some very handy direction for pilots , as explained in the video above  from Business Insider.  The numbers are always between 1 and 36, and the difference between the numbers on either end of the same runway is always 18. Sometimes, they’re followed by a letter with a meaning all its own, and sometimes, they change based on the earth’s magnetic north.  Watch above for the riveting rundown. — This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms. Your iPhone Could Stop You From Texting And Driving Soon

Apple unveiled a new iPhone feature this week that aims to cut down on the number of distracted drivers. The “Do Not Disturb While Driving” setting will automatically silence incoming texts and notifications while an iPhone is connected to a car via Bluetooth or cable,  the tech giant announced Monday . DNDWD, which will be available in fall 2017 with the release of Apple’s mobile operating system iOS 11, will allow users to send autotomatic replies to contacts attempting to reach them while they are behind the wheel. The auto-reply messages will consist of two responses, according to New York Magazine . The first will read: “I’m driving with Do Not Disturb turned on. I’ll see your message when I get where I’m going,” followed by: “If this is urgent, reply ‘urgent’ to send a notification through with your original message.” Drivers can still use Apple Maps, the company’s navigation app, though they will be unable to input destinations while driving, reported CNN

Twitter Thinks Apple’s HomePod Looks Like A Roll Of Toilet Paper

Yesterday Apple  unveiled  HomePod , a home speaker system that plays music and takes commands. The cylindrical,  motor-driven device  comes in white and space gray  and  will retail for $349  when it hits stores in December. But  Twitter  isn’t convinced the invention is entirely original.
