DVD Player In Tesla Raises Questions In Autopilot Death

A digital video disc player was found in the Tesla car that was on autopilot when its driver was killed in a collision with a truck in May, Florida Highway Patrol officials said on Friday. “There was a portable DVD player in the vehicle,” said Sergeant Kim Montes of the FHP in a telephone interview. She said there was no camera found, mounted on the dash or of any kind, in the wreckage. A lawyer for a truck driver involved in the accident with the Tesla told Reuters his investigators had spoken to a witness who said the DVD player was playing a “Harry Potter” video after the accident, but the lawyer was unable to verify that beyond the witness account.

How Tech Is Changing in 2016

As we enter deeper and deeper into the digital age, tech is consistently changing. While many think we may have hit a plateau with the use of smartphones and other mobile devices, technology is only evolving more and more, sometimes in different arenas. As we approach the middle of 2016, there is definitely some new technology that is changing the world, and other technology on the horizon that is expected to change life as we know it by the beginning of 2017. Changes to Our Daily Tasks One of the most important things we see changing in 2016 is the simplicity technology has given us to complete our daily tasks with ease . Several years ago, you could easily log into work (or school) by lugging your laptop to an area with Wi-Fi. This made work on-the-go much easier, as carrying a giant laptop around somehow seemed very portable

Recognizing Mobile Innovation Everywhere

In 2014, Jonathan Ortmans, a Senior Fellow at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation testified before the U.S. House Committee on Small Business, Subcommittee on Contracting and Workforce. This isn’t surprising given that the Kauffman Foundation is one of America’s most well regarded resources on entrepreneurship, jobs, and economic growth. Mr. Ortmans’ testimony though should be a wake-up call for all of us who care about economic prosperity everywhere

Gizmo Attaches To Garbage Disposals, Turns Food Waste Into Compost

A tiny tweak can have a huge impact. Six students at Rice University have created a motor-operated device that attaches to your food disposal and turns food waste into compost, which can be used as nutrient-rich soil. The mechanical gadget, called BioBlend, is activated whenever someone turns on a food disposal. BioBlend then separates food waste by chopping it up and straining out water. The water is then sent to a municipal wastewater treatment, while the food waste is stored under your sink until it can be composted — or used for biogas generation, which uses waste to generate gas for cooking .

Quirky Retro Video Shows Evolution Of The Video Game Controller

Video game controllers have come a long way. The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset would have been a mere fantasy for gamers in the late 1950s, who were more used to using a simple, 2-buttoned plastic box to play ” Tennis for Two .” To celebrate the evolution of the gaming device, YouTube channel ” Super Deluxe ” put together a quirkily retro video featuring animations of the world’s most popular controllers. From Atari to Xbox, they’re all there. Check it out in the clip above.

Mysterious Floating Black Ring Over Disneyland Explained

When you visit any Disney park, you’re encouraged to suspend your normal  beliefs about what’s possible and enter a world of fantasy, magic, and illusion.  So, it came as no real surprise when, at the end of April, while enjoying the sights and sounds of Disneyland in Anaheim, California, Kyle Hawkins saw something odd in the early evening sky. “No idea what this could be. Walking up Main Street at Disneyland, following the parade,” Hawkins wrote on his YouTube page . “Everyone around me starts looking up and pointing at this daunting black ring floating methodically above us.

The ‘Affectionator’ Machine Lets Your Dog Pet You

People with pets love to say that really, their animals own them, not the other way around. But this contraption, which allows dogs to “pet” their humans and give them treats, really drives that sentiment home. The video went up on YouTube in May, but it’s been popping up all over online this week. While it might seem sort of silly to employ a robot to pet your dog when you’re sitting right across the table, hooking something like this up remotely — say, when you’re at work, could be pretty awesome. And if your dog could pet you or give you treats (maybe coffee?) while you’re at the office, well..

Facebook, I Need Your Help

Facebook has blocked me from posting in the “help community.” What was my sin? I have only posted there twice. The first time I asked how to remove my father’s Facebook page after he died. I learned that I couldn’t, so every year my brothers and I receive reminders that it is his birthday and we should write on his timeline. Recently, I posted again, asking what I thought was a reasonable question
