Let’s Go Humans

In the age of connectivity, big data and artificial intelligence (AI), the world is asking an existential question about the role men and women will play in our own future. To me, our role has never been more clear. Humans can and will dictate the terms by which technological innovations complement — not supplant — our work and our play. Indeed, we are the inspiration for our industry. Innovators work long hours and late nights to change our lives for the better.

This is the Technology That is Propelling Us Into the Future

What other technology innovations have had as much impact and influence as the iPhone? originally appeared on Quora – the knowledge sharing network where compelling questions are answered by people with unique insights . Answer by Connie Guglielmo , Editor-in-Chief, CNET News, on Quora . What other technology innovations have had as much impact and influence as the iPhone?  This is a big question so it really depends on your time frame (I mean, Edison and his lightbulb was a big thing). If we look at what’s going on in tech today, I would point to the work Tesla is doing to convince people that battery-powered cars with varying degrees of autonomous tech is the wave of the future.

Russian Reactions To Hacking Accusations And Sanctions Follow A Traditional Pattern: Deny Then Distort

MOSCOW ― To close out 2016, U.S. President Barack Obama authorized several actions in response to the Russian government’s aggressive harassment of U.S. officials and cyber operations aimed at the recent American presidential election, including expelling Russian diplomats and closing Russian government–owned compounds . These steps, described by some analysts as the biggest retaliation since the Cold War, drew a variety of reactions in Russia. While a number of Russian commentators on social networks habitually blamed Obama’s administration for weakness of response and animosity against Russia, the Kremlin chose a different approach

Yahoo Finance Kicks Off 2017 With A Very Unfortunate Typo On Twitter

Yahoo Finance’s new year has gotten off to a rough start. The financial news site shared a story on its  Twitter account  Thursday night about President-elect Donald Trump’s desire to bolster the U.S. Navy . But whoever tweeted the link mistakenly captioned it with the wrong word: Here's the original Yahoo Finance navy post in case you missed it : pic.twitter.com/fmrkLvPTkA — Falooda Papi (@atishjogi) January 6, 2017 The unfortunate typo reportedly remained live for around 20 minutes  before Yahoo Finance acknowledged the error, took the post down and apologized: We deleted an earlier tweet due to a spelling error. We apologize for the mistake.

CisWhiteMale.com Redirects To Jonathan Franzen’s Facebook Page

It’s long been known that Jonathan Franzen hates the internet and, well, the internet doesn’t exactly love him either. From his writing about women to his comments on being a man ( ”It’s like there’s no way to make myself not male ”) to his lack of a diverse friend group  (”I don’t have very many black friends”), Franzen hasn’t done much to ingratiate himself with the people of the World wide Web. As such, it’s no surprise that the polemical writer of works such as  The Corrections and   Purity was most recently the butt of a joke. Discovery of the day: https://t.co/5AxOZuNsEF redirects to Jonathan Frazen's Facebook page. — Peter Allen Clark (@peterallenclark) January 2, 2017 This isn’t a drill: Ciswhitemale.com actually takes you to Franzen’s Facebook fan page. Also, if you search the ciswhitemale.com site on Google, you get this delightful search result:  2017 is going to be a hoot, isn’t it?  — This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms

Astronauts Take Mannequin Challenge To New Heights In International Space Station

We got the whole crew together and took the #MannequinChallenge to new heights #Proxima pic.twitter.com/vlOglQ3lEh — Thomas Pesquet (@Thom_astro) December 29, 2016 It’s hard to look frozen when you’re floating, weightless in space. But the crew aboard the International Space Station somehow managed to do it — and in spectacular style. European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet tweeted a video Thursday of himself and four colleagues doing the mannequin challenge, one-upping everyone on the planet who’d ever attempted the viral craze in the process. Some clearly are hooking a foot or hand over some solid support to help them remain motionless as the cameraman floats by in the French astronaut’s video, above. Bizarrely, a crewmember holding a camera is also part of the outer-space “tableau.” “We got the whole crew together and took the # MannequinChallenge to new heights,” crowed Pesquet  on Twitter in English and French. “The result is kind of sci-fi spooky don’t you think?” he wrote on Facebook. Pesquet said the crew had their “bit of fun in microgravity” on their day off Sunday.
