Manhattanhenge Returns To The Big Apple For The Last Time In 2016

Happy  Manhattanhenge ! The spectacular sunset that aligns perfectly with Manhattan’s street grid returns to New York City  on Monday and Tuesday at 8:20 p.m. EST. These are the last times to see the semiannual phenomenon in 2016. Manhattanhenge creates “a radiant glow of light across Manhattan’s brick and steel canyons , simultaneously illuminating both the north and south sides of every cross street of the borough’s grid.”  At least that’s how astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has described the phenomenon. And it was Tyson, a native Manhattanite, who first popularized the term “Manhattanhenge.” Manhattanhenge ― the name is a nod to the prehistoric monument Stonehenge, which was built to align with the rising sun during the summer solstice ― occurs because of the roughly east-west alignment of the borough’s street grid.

C Level Need To Focus On Realignment And Opportunities Post Britex In Tech And Business, Not Tactical Noise

Examining the Office of National Statistics data on “How important is the European Union to UK trade and investment?” from June 2015 highlights interesting issues. It is clear that from an macro economic perspective that the current UK structures are 40 to 50% connected with the main land continent, but several out side performance growth figures points to faster markets outside the EU. Source: http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20160105160709/ http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/international-transactions/outward-foreign-affiliates-statistics/how-important-is-the-european-union-to-uk-trade-and-investment-/sty-eu It is also noticeable the amount and type of analysts commentary in the media from consultancies and industry reactions that seem to range from small micro project management issues of “maintaining digital skills and customer service” to broader statements of trade deficits and difficult times ahead. Perhaps we are still in what ever the opposite of honeymoon period we are in.

Tesla Isn’t Sure Autopilot Was Enabled During Second Crash

Tesla on Wednesday said it has no evidence that one of its cars was in autopilot mode when it hit a guardrail and flipped on the Pennsylvania Turnpike about 100 miles east of Pittsburgh on July 1.  Police in Pennsylvania said the driver of a Tesla Model X told them he’d activated autopilot before the accident, but the car maker has been unable to assess the allegations first reported by The Detroit Free Press. Tesla says it has been unable to reach the motorist, a suburban Detroit art dealer, and also hasn’t received digital crash data, perhaps because the car’s antenna was damaged.  “We have no data at this point to indicate that Autopilot was engaged or not engaged,” a company spokeswoman said in a statement. “ As we do with all crash events, we immediately reached out to the customer to confirm they were ok and offer support, but were unable to reach him.  We have since attempted to contact the customer three times by phone without success. It is not possible to learn more without access to the vehicle’s onboard logs.” Albert Scaglione, the alleged car owner, hasn’t responded to The Huffington Post’s inquiries.

ChristianMingle Will Make Big, Pro-Gay Change After Lawsuit

The ” largest and fastest growing online community ” for Christian singles will now allow gay and lesbian users to search for same-sex matches following a legal battle.  Previously, ChristianMingle required new users to identify themselves as “men seeking women” or “women seeking men,” The Wall Street Journal reported June 30. Same-sex couples couldn’t be matched through the site because there was no option for users to register themselves as gay or lesbian.  In 2013, two gay men filed class actions claims against ChristianMingle’s parent company, Spark Networks. The men argued that Spark was breaking California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act , which requires businesses to provide “full and equal accommodations” to all patrons regardless of sexual orientation, in not permitting gay and lesbian people to use its online dating services.  Per a settlement , Spark agreed to allow users to just identify as a “man” or a “woman” on its homepages, and will also pay $468,000 in legal fees to the gay men who filed the suit, according to The Wall Street Journal. The company is also required to introduce new features that will make it easier for gay and lesbian users to search for others on the site.  Vineet Dubey, an attorney for one of the plaintiffs, said in a statement that he was pleased with the outcome.  “I am gratified that we were able to work with Spark to help ensure that people can fully participate in all the diverse market places that make our country so special, regardless of their sexual orientation,” Dubey said, according to Christian News .  The settlement’s terms will also apply to three of Spark’s other sites, CatholicMingle , AdventistSinglesConnection and BlackSingles , but not to its popular Jewish-oriented site, JDate , which was not a part of the lawsuit.  Representatives for Spark said they were “pleased to resolve the litigation,” according to Christian News. Meanwhile, ChristianMingle appeared to hint at the lawsuit in a Facebook post on June 30.   Readers also used the post as an opportunity to sound off on the ruling

Rebecca Hall ‘Blown Away’ By Steven Spielberg’s On-Screen Adaptation Of ‘The BFG’

Rebecca Hall has worked with her fair share of well-known directors , including Christopher Nolan, Woody Allen and Ben Affleck, but her recent experience on “The BFG” with Steven Spielberg was one for the books.  The actress, who plays Mary in the onscreen adaptation of Roald Dahl’s beloved novel, opened up to The Huffington Post about her “special experience” working with Spielberg during an AOL Build interview on Tuesday.  “Steven Spielberg was a huge part of my childhood, like everyone’s, I guess,” Hall said, referencing her love of “E.T.” and “Jaws” (which she says she watched when she was “far too young.”) Hall was thrilled to be a part of the whimsical movie, which tells the story of a young orphan, Sophie (Ruby Barnhill), who forms a bond with a non-human-eating giant nicknamed the BFG or the Big Friendly Giant, played by Mark Rylance. “He seems to have a very unique access to what it is to be a child still, and he has all of that wonder and excitement and joy about life,” Hall added of Spielberg. “I think that’s what makes his films for children so brilliant and also what makes him so brilliant to direct children. It was really special to watch him do that and watch him create this world.”  Hall appears in the live-action part of the film, which takes place in Buckingham Palace as the Queen (Penelope Wilton) and co. meet the BFG. But despite not being involved in any of the green screen, CGI and motion-capture bits, the actress was “blown away” by the special effects and Rylance’s imaginative performance.  “I’m in the last quarter of the film, so when I watched the film, I was very much like an audience member who had no expectation or understanding of what I was supposed to see for the first hour and 15 minutes
