Freaky GIF Hints Harry Potter And Frodo Baggins Are Secretly The Same Person

Are Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe actually the same person? A gif showing the “ Harry Potter ” actor morphing into Frodo Baggins from “ Lord of the Rings ” is freaking millions of internet users out.  They are almost indistinguishable — even though, at the age of 35, Wood is a clear 9 years older than his A-list doppelgänger. View post on imgur.com The clip has been seen more than 7.6 million times since it was posted to Imgur on Thursday.  It’s also sparked a host of other gifs, including this absolute gem: This Daniel Radcliffe-Elijah Wood gif is mesmerizing pic.twitter.com/KM7jqMYxWh — Erin Ruberry (@erinruberry) May 28, 2016 The similarity between the duo is obviously not news to Radcliffe, however. ” We’re both kind of short guys with big blue eyes and brown hair ,” he told Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast in November, adding that the confusion may also come from having appeared “in fantasy movies that came out at the same time.” Radcliffe also revealed on the United Kingdom’s “The Graham Norton Show” in 2012 that he a fan once gave him a photo of Wood to sign on the red carpet in Japan for a movie premiere — and he obliged.  “There is no time in that moment to explain to them in a language that is not their first that this is not me,” he said.

How Technology Hijacks People’s Minds

From a Magician and Google’s Design Ethicist Estimated reading time: 12 minutes. I’m an expert on how technology hijacks our psychological vulnerabilities. That’s why I spent the last three years as a Design Ethicist at Google caring about how to design things in a way that defends a billion people’s minds from getting hijacked. When using technology, we often focus optimistically on all the things it does for us. But I want you to show you where it might do the opposite. Where does technology exploit our minds’ weaknesses?

Why You Should Never Sleep While Your Tesla Drives Itself

A video that surfaced online this week appears to show a driver asleep at the wheel of a Tesla vehicle on autopilot mode — and drivers everywhere collectively freaked out when they saw it. With good reason. The electric carmaker has repeatedly said that its self-driving features  don’t make its cars completely autonomous, and that the driver should keep their hands on the wheel at all times and be ready to take over when necessary. Not to mention,  it’s extremely dangerous to get behind the wheel of a car if you’re as tired as the person in this video apparently is. Tesla currently offers autopilot features in its Model S and Model X cars, enabling the vehicles to steer themselves within a lane, change lanes with the driver’s tap of the turn signal, manage speed with a traffic-aware cruise control, parallel park upon command and find open parking spaces. The company claims that digital control of motors, brakes and steering help its vehicles avoid collisions, as well as prevent the cars from running off the road

Pam Edwards thought she was just playing a Super Mario Brothers video game. She didn’t realize her boyfriend, Shane Birkinbine, was game for marriage. Edwards, of Bentonville, Arkansas, didn’t know the game level she was playing wasn’t on the level. Birkinbine, a self-described geek, had used “Super Mario Maker,” which allows players to create their own levels, to fashion a wedding proposal. Tony Hawk Finally Gets To Show Gravity Who’s Boss

For more than three decades, skateboarding pioneer Tony Hawk has been redefining the sport, defying gravity with hard-to-believe stunts like last year’s first-ever “vertical spiral.” But this week, at age 48, “The Birdman” got to test his skills without the force that has left him with a broken pelvis , broken  elbow , concussions and countless sprains and cuts.  In a new Promotions such as those at Mohr Publicityal video for Sony, Hawk and fellow professional skateboarder Aaron “Jaws” Homoki  demonstrate flips, front-foot impossibles and the dreaded “double-air, spinaroo,” all while flying in weightlessness inside a  Zero Gravity Corp . airliner. ” We’ve been battling gravity our whole lives ,” Hawk says in the video. “And today we get to try some tricks that we’ve only ever dreamed about.”  But as it turns out, skateboarding without gravity has its own challenges — even for the legendary master. “You have so many ideas, and once you’re weightless you forget what to do,” Hawk said

Robot Butler’s Creativity Surprises Its Own Makers

A robot designed to clear clutter has learned how to cradle items in its arms, the same way a human might hold a baby, Carnegie Mellon University said Wednesday. Even more remarkable, the robot seems to have tapped into this tender side all on its own. “We never taught it that,” Siddhartha Srinivasa, an associate professor of robotics at the school, said in a press release. The robot, dubbed the Home Exploring Robot Butler (HERB), uses a series of algorithms to solve problems and move objects around. HERB’s most remarkable feature is the ability to both recognize specific types of items and move them to certain areas. In a video shared by Carnegie Mellon, HERB can be seen locating blocks and sorting them according to color
