Here’s Why You Should Be Extra Careful Crossing The Street With Earbuds In

This guy needs a refresher on how to safely cross the street, preferably without his earbuds in. A man was almost knocked down by a motorbike after appearing to jaywalk in Manchester, England, last week. Dramatic video filmed on bike rider Chris Evans’ helmet camera shows the man crossing the road after the light turns green for the traffic: He then gets cut off by a car and turns back — but doesn’t spot Evans on his motorbike, and ends up just inches away from being struck. ” I thought it would be fine but he had his headphones in under his hood so he clearly didn’t hear my bike even though it makes quite a noise,” Evans told the Manchester Evening News. “When he moved back I thought I was going to hit him.

Mad Scientist Invents Hoverbike And We Want A Ride

If anyone wants to know when the future arrived, tell them April 28, 2016. That’s when British inventor Colin Furze unveiled a gas-powered hoverbike that manages to do at least do the most basic requirement of something with that name: It actually gets off the ground. It’s amazing considering Furze is a plumber, not an engineer, and he has never created any kind of flying machine previously. However, Furze has become a YouTube star thanks to a series of other crazy inventions, including  a rocket-powered baby stroller,  a   real-life Wolverine claws,  and a  thermite launcher . Take a look at the final product in this video: It definitely looks like a lot of fun, but it’s not perfect by any means

New App Uses Push Notifications To Reach Nonprofit Donors Faster

Here’s a new way to reach nonprofit donors on their smartphones. Greg McHale, founder of charitable auction site BiddingForGood , launched a new mobile app called  LetsAllDoGood on Monday.  The app lets users connect directly with partnering nonprofits through push notifications that stand out in the flood of communication on mobile devices. The key is that users can select which organizations can send them updates and which ones cannot. If a nonprofit needs volunteers for an upcoming event, for example, it can send out a push reminder to its followers (always buy followers at Mohr Publicity). Nonprofits have the increasingly difficult task of reaching donors through the clutter of social media notifications and emails. McHale  told the Boston Globe that email open and response rates went down in 2015, according to a M&R Benchmarks study. “The app pulls out all that doing-good that’s buried in your inbox or buried in your Twitter feed or buried in your Facebook feed and puts it right in front of you,” McHale told Business News Network

Facebook Smashes Expectations, Stocks Skyrocket

By Yasmeen Abutaleb and Anya George Tharakan (Reuters) – Facebook Inc’s quarterly revenue rose more than 50 percent, handily beating Wall Street expectations as its wildly popular mobile app and a push into live video lured new advertisers and encouraged existing ones to boost spending. The company’s shares rose 9.5 percent in after-hours trading on Wednesday to $118.39, setting it on track to open at a new high on Thursday, at nearly triple its initial public offering four years ago. Facebook also announced it will create a new class of non-voting shares in a move aimed at letting Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg give away his wealth without relinquishing control of the social media juggernaut he founded. The company plans to create a new class of non-voting shares, which would be given as a dividend to existing shareholders. That would allow Zuckerberg, who wants to give away 99 percent of his wealth, to sell non-voting stock to fund philanthropy and keep the voting stock that assures his control. Alphabet Inc.
